Tipped restaurant workers in New York will receive an increase of the “tipped minimum wage” from $5 per hour to $7.50 per hour if the recommendations of a Wage Board are approved by the Acting Commissioner of Labor. The Wage Board also recommended a uniform tipped minimum wage for all tipped workers so that the same rates apply to food service workers, service employees, and service employees in resort hotels. The Wage Board also recommended an additional one dollar increase in the tipped minimum wage for workers in New York City, in the event that New York City increases its own minimum wage.
